If you plan to represent yourself in court in a family law matter (divorce, modification of child custody or child support, or paternity), you are required to complete the following two step Litigant Awareness Program, and file your certificate with the court. The program will help you understand the Missouri court system and the type of case that interests you. You also will learn about the dangers and duties of representing yourself in court. The program may be helpful for other types of cases as well.

If you feel you need to seek an Order of Protection, come in person to the St. Louis County Adult Abuse/Order of Protection Office, located in the St. Louis County Courthouse at 105 South Central Avenue, Clayton, MO 63105. The Adult Abuse Office is open Mondays through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. NOTE: The Adult Abuse Office does not accept any filings for Orders of Protection after 4:00 p.m. during the week.
In the event that you or someone you know needs to file an Order of Protection after business hours, please contact your local police department for appropriate guidance.
